The Harmonettes are planning on holding our next auditions in the Fall.
Here is a description of what you can expect at an audition:
1. Mass Meeting:
Attend the Harmonettes mass meeting to learn more about us. We will provide you with all of the information you need to make a successful Harmonette audition. At the meeting, you will be able to ask any questions you may have, and then sign up for audition times. If you’re lucky, you may even get to hear us sing!
2. Auditions (10 minutes each):
-
Vocalization - simple warm ups and range testing.
-
Tonal Memory - we play a series of notes, you sing them back to us.
Sightreading – a chance to show off your music reading skills.
-
Your Solo – The fun part! You get to sing a short solo of your choice for us (approximately 1 minute long, usually a verse and a chorus of the song). We prefer that you stick to something contemporary (rock, pop, jazz, r&b) rather than classical, musical theatre, or showtunes, so that we will be able to hear your solo potential for the types of music that we typically sing.
3. Callbacks (45 minutes each):
Callbacks are very selective, but they are done in a much more laid-back setting. You will get a chance to learn one of our songs and rehearse with the group, so that we can learn more about you and see how your voice fits in with the rest of the Harmonettes.
